Season 1 of Channel Zero is inspired by the creepypasta Candle Cove[1][2], written by Kris Straub.
It follows child psychologist Mike Painter as he returns to his hometown of Iron Hill, Ohio, to look into the disappearance and murders of five children over a period of two months in the fall of 1988, one of whom was his identical twin, Eddie. These murders were centered around a pirate-themed puppet show called Candle Cove... a show only children could see.
It aired on Tuesdays from October 11, 2016 to November 15, 2016 at 9 PM. It was released on DVD on September 26, 2017.
The Candle Cove theme song heard in the puppet show scenes in the show, as well as in the mini episode of the puppet show posted to the SyFy Channel YouTube channel, was originally a 2011 fan creation based on the creepypasta and posted to YouTube by musician Ben Hayward.[4]
